Travel Stipends for the 2026 Austrian Studies Association Conference:
Please read eligibility requirements and details carefully before submitting your application. If eligible, you may apply to more than one stipend.
Paul Seefried Graduate Student Travel Stipend
This stipend provides one graduate student with an award of $1,500 to be used toward transportation, lodging, and conference fees to attend the Austrian Studies Association Conference.
Eligibility: This year, the awardee must be a currently enrolled graduate student in residence at an institution outside of Europe. Preference will be given to individuals who do not have funding from their home institution or another source.
Deadline: January 15, 2026

Please note: The awardee will receive the funds by check at the Austrian Studies Association Conference (or by wire transfer immediately afterward).
Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies
The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies has generously made available a limited number of fellowships to cover travel expenses (up to a maximum of $1000 per stipend) for conference participants whose papers address some aspect of the historic relationship between the United States and Austria, including between historic Habsburg Austria and the United States.
Eligibility: Abstract and title must be accepted by the conference committee and must clearly indicate how the paper addresses the relationship between the US and Austria. Preference will be given to individuals who do not have funding from their home institution or another source, and who have not previously received travel funding from the Bostiber Institute to attend the ASA conference.

Austrian Studies Association – Jutta Landa Fund
The ASA Jutta Landa Fund will offer up to five Travel Stipends (maximum award $500) for graduate students or early career scholars.
Eligibility: Currently enrolled graduate students or those who received their Ph.D. no later than 2023. Preference will be given to individuals who do not have funding from their home institution or another source and who have not previously received travel funding from the Landa Fund.
