Dear Conference Participants,

As the date of the MALCA 2007 Conference is fast approaching, we would like to take this opportunity to finalize all required arrangements and details.

Conference Fee: $-CDN 100,- payable at the door IN CASH, CANADIAN CURRENCY ONLY. The fee includes coffee breaks and the meals indicated on the conference program.

Hotel Accomodations : We are currently holding a block of rooms at the Sutton Place Hotel in Downtown Edmonton ( You should reserve your room as soon as possible by calling 1-866-378-8866 or e-mailing and asking for the special MALCA RATE of $109.00 + tax (11%). This exclusively negotiated conference rate and availability can only be guaranteed until March 12, 2007. Please note: if you have applied for any travel or accommodation subsidy from us, it is still your responsibility to book your hotel room. If you are successful in obtaining financial assistance (a decision will be taken on this by mid-February), we will make the arrangements to have your hotel accommodations paid for directly by the Wirth Institute.

A Visitors Information Guide to Edmonton and area (places to see, shops, cafés etc.) will be included in your welcome folder, which you will receive upon check-in to the hotel. Should you require any such information in advance, please contact us directly.

Transportation: Transportation to and from your hotel and the Edmonton International Airport is most convenient using the Sky Shuttle service. Purchasing a return ticket at the airport upon your arrival is cheaper that two one-way fares. If you would like to learn more about the service and/or view their schedules, you may wish to visit their web-site at

Technical Requirements: Should you require the use of any technical equipment for your presentation, please send an e-mail directly to Matthias Forenbacher (, cc: who is managing our technology needs for this conference. Due to the nature of the conference facility and the fact that it takes place over a weekend, same day requests for special technical equipment cannot be accommodated.

Special Dietary Needs: Should you have any special dietary needs or restrictions, please advise Sylwia Adam-Ross (, cc: immediately, as this will allow us to make the appropriate arrangements for your meals.

We trust that the above information will answer most of your questions regarding your presentation, accommodation and transportation arrangements. If you require any additional information or have any other questions that you may wish answered, please feel free to contact us directly at the conference e-mail address: and one of the organizers will get back to you promptly. In order to better accommodate your needs and to facilitate a dialogue prior to the conference, we are planning to expand our conference e-mail to a discussion list (academic and practical questions, ideas, etc.).

We look forward to greeting you soon in Edmonton.

Best wishes and regards,

(on behalf of the organizers)
